Arieb Azhar and May Robertson | Chisholme Institute

I was playing again with the unutterably wonderful Arieb Azhar last night.

People often ask after a concert, ‘How can you improvise off-the-cuff like that?’ but this music is so involving that it takes you along with it – it doesn’t matter if it’s the first hearing. It’s an honour to be asked to add something to Arieb’s work.

I hope to see some of you this Monday, at 7.30, and to enjoy Arieb’s talk on the Sufi poetry of Pakistan that afternoon with those who can make it.

Now for an early night before another telling of The Rose and the Bulbul… and a long journey north.
